Resources

I love a good tool. A helpful website. A smooth SaaS product. When you choose the right tools, you can streamline your business operations, content creation, and time and project management. Here are all of my go-to recommendations—some affiliate links are included but I only share resources that I personally use (and love) myself.

Content creation resources

Grammarly

Grammarly Premium is a must-have for freelance writers. It checks for spelling and grammar mistakes but also helps improve writing by suggesting grammatical edits to make the content more clear, concise, and readable.

ChatGPT

I know not everyone is a fan of AI but I think it’s an absolutely incredible tool freelance writers can use to create article outlines, improve their writing, and find inspiration. I pay $20/month for the Pro version and it’s very worth it to me but try the free version if you’re just getting started with AI.

riverside.FM

If you’re a podcaster or record video interviews, Riverside.fm is an online recording studio that does everything—and it’s easy to use. My favorite part of Riverside is that you can run the recording off-camera in producer moder for smoother outputs.

Flodesk

By far the easiest to use, most aesthetically pleasing email platform. Whether you have a paid newsletter or use your email list to share news and updates, Flodesk is the best. And it’s very inexpensive!

Medium

Not only is Medium a great place to attract new clients, you can also make money by publishing content as part of Medium’s Partner Program.

Design resources

Canva

Canva is the best design tool out there for non-designers like me who still want to make gorgeous visuals

Beautiful.ai

If you need to create a powerful presentation or pitch deck, Beautiful.ai is such an easy tool. I like the data visualizations available through Beautiful—they feel more dynamic than those in Canva or other tools I’ve tried.

Visme

My go-to tool for designing infographics. They have lots of templates and I find the platform to be better for infographics than Canva is. It’s also really affordable.

Creative Market

This design marketplace has millions of ready-to-use digital products including vector files, images, illustrations, and templates of all kinds. It’s hard not to spend hours just browsing!

The Colour Book

Over 150 expert-curated color combinations from Loryn, HEX codes included. I love browsing these fresh and interesting color combos when I need inspiration for a design project.

Coolors

Turn any image into a color palette. I use the free version and it’s perfect.

Pexels

One of my favorite sources for beautiful (and free!) stock images that don’t look like stock photography.

Unsplash

Another solid stock photography site with lots of unique options.

Business resources

Found

Found is a bank designed for the self-employed. But it’s so much more than that! You can send invoices and receive payment directly on the platform, track expenses, and set aside money for taxes.

Trello

There are a zillion project management tools with lots of bells and whistles but I stand by Trello, a tried-and-true platform that is easy for anyone to use.

Stan

The link in bio tool that all the cool content creators use. Stan goes beyond the typical links and allows your audience to book time with you, make payments, and more right from the link. Worth the hype.
